Vintage & Upcycled Furniture Tour

ecochair basel

SFr. 35.00

Following from our popular vintage furniture walking tours in Basel city, we've now added a new walking tour in the Munchenstein area.

In this tour, we'll introduce you to a few local businesses involved in selling vintage furniture, as well as those making (or re-making) furniture, either by using reclaimed wood or by refreshing old furniture with new paint and fittings.

We'll meet at Café Spurlos, on the ground floor of the Impact Hub (on the edge of the Dreispitz areal),  where you'll munch on a 'gipefli' while you get a brief introduction to the ecochair concept, as well as a chance to see examples of how the Café has used vintage and upcycled furniture.  We'll then go on a walking tour of the neighbourhood, where you'll meet the owners/managers of several local hidden gems, including a new brockenhaus (that also does some furniture upcycling), a carpenter's workshop that creates beautiful design furniture from reclaimed wood, and a hidden storage hall full of vintage furniture treasures.  You'll hear their stories, learn about their furniture, and ask them questions. We'll also get to taste one of the Basel area's legendary ice cream treats.

The tour is approximately 4 hours long. You will be provided with a light snack (gipfeli and ice cream). Approximate times:

  • Start point: 9:00 Impact Hub / Café Spurlos (Tram Stop Dreispitz)
  • End point: 12:45 @ Tram Stop Gartenstadt or 13:00 @ Tram stop Dreispitz

Please wear comfortable shoes. In case of rainy weather, we will take the tram for some sections of the tour, however you should bring a raincoat / umbrella as there are still a few sections you'll need to walk outside.

We will follow the government's advice on COVID-19 measures, and will provide all confirmed participants with the latest advice prior to the tour date. If the tour has to be cancelled because of COVID-19 measures, a full refund will be given.
