How does it work?

Send us your photos, and we'll take a look and see if it fits our market.

We will make a price recommendation, based on similarly price items in the market. It's up to you to decide the final 'base price', though we reserve the right to decline the item if we think the price is too high for our market.

ecochair operates a consignment model. That means that we help you sell your furniture, and you get paid once we find a buyer. This is known as 'profit sharing', as we take a commission from the sale.

Sell your stuff online

Option 1: Base price (your profit) + ecochair commission (15%)  + delivery cost = customer price

> You send us high quality photos, details about your item(s) and measurements. We post it in our webshop

> If a customer reserves the item for viewing, we pick it up from you within two days. If the item is too heavy/large for one person to pick-up, then we will coordinate with you to arrange a viewing in your home, normally within the next 7 days. We make it simple by handling all of the communication with the potential buyer, all you have to do is be at home at the appointed time & day.

> Once a customer buys the item, we will pick it up from you and deliver it to them.

> Our standard consignment agreement is for three months. ecochair.ch may offer an extension of this.

Sell your stuff online and in our shop

Option 2: Base price (your profit) + ecochair commission (40%)  + delivery cost = customer price

> You drop small items off at our shop, we pick up large items.

> We take high quality photographs and measurements. We display it in our showroom and post it online.

> Once a customer buys the item, we deliver it to them. 

> Our standard consignment agreement is for three months. ecochair.ch may offer an extension of this. If an extension is not offered, then you pick it up at the shop or arrange with us to have it donated/recycled.

We have limited space in our shop (though a new storage space is coming soon), so this option might not always be available.

Local delivery cost

We offer customers an all-inclusive price, that includes delivery within the Basel area. This is because we believe that a major barrier for potential second-hand furniture buyers is the hassle of organising pick-up and delivery. To make it really simple, we build in a delivery cost for all of our items, so local customers only see one final price. When setting the price for consignment items, we take these costs into account as following:

Small items: CHF 16 (delivered by bicycle courier where possible), e.g. can be carried up stairs by one person; dining chairs, small side tables (under 100 cm x 50 cm x 50 cm).

Medium items: CHF 40 (delivered by an electric vehicle where possible) e.g. can be carried up stairs by one person but are over 100 cm x 50 cm x 50 cm.

Large items: CHF 80  (delivered by an electric vehicle where possible) e.g items that can be carried by one person with a trolley, but require two people to move it upstairs; such as armchairs, side tables, small kitchen tables, small desks.

Oversized items: CHF 150 (delivered by a large van) e.g. sofas, dining tables, large desks, solid wood cabinets.

For small and medium items, we've recently added shipping options for Switzerland, which is calculated on top, to allow for time and materials to pack the items for shipping.
