COVID 19 furniture delivery

We have taken some time to put together a safety concept for our showroom, local delivery and shipping strategy to ensure we all stay safe in these strange times

Q. Is the ecochair.ch showroom open?

Yes, our showroom is open by appointment only.

Q. What precautions are you taking in the showroom?

The following safety measures will apply:

  • If possible, we will show the items outside (e.g. weather permitting) 
  • Customers must use disinfectant on their hands prior to entering the showroom, this is provided at the door
  • Contactless payments are available (visa, mastercard, amex, applepay, twint) and strongly encouraged. Where a PIN is required, we will disinfected the PIN pad before and after each transaction.
  • If paying in cash, please have exact change available. 
  • ecochair.ch staff will wear masks
  • Furniture will be wiped after being touched / sat on by customers
  • Customers must wear masks inside the showroom


Q. Is ecochair.ch still offering local delivery and shipping ?

Yes! We can normally deliver items to you within 3 - 5 days. 

Q. What precautions are you taking with local delivery and shipping?

We are a small team and we do the packaging ourselves. Before ecochair.ch touches the furniture, our hands are washed and disinfected - and masks if we are packaging it.

When we receive your order for local Basel delivery, we will follow-up with you by email to confirm the date and time of your delivery. We will wear masks for the delivery. Please note that we won't bring your order inside the building. If you can't carry it yourself, please arrange for someone to help you - do not ask us to come inside.

For shipments outside of the Basel area, we package the items in boxes ourselves following the above mentioned practices, and use SwissPost for delivery: you can read more about the precautions they are taking here.

Q. How do you make sure your delivery people aren't passing the virus on from one delivery to the next?

For our local deliveries, we disinfect our hands before and after the delivery, and avoid touching surfaces such as door handles whenever we can. As payment is made in advance, that there is no need to come into close contact with the people receiving the deliveries or in contact with any surfaces at the delivery addresses. That keeps you and us safe.

Q. I have heard that the virus can live on cardboard for 24 hours. Should I be worried about the furniture packaging?

No. The  World Health Organization (WHO) has said the likelihood of catching the virus that causes COVID-19 (Coronavirus) from a package that has been moved, travelled, and exposed to different conditions and temperature is low. You can read the original article that mentions the 24 hours on cardboard here, in the New England Journal of Medicine.

If you are still feeling unsure, you can designate a corner or room for new packages and leave them isolated for at least 24 hours, making sure you wash your hands with soap after you have brought them in.

Q. I am in quarantine / self-isolation. Can you still deliver to me?

Yes. When we receive your order for local Basel delivery, we will follow-up with you by email to confirm the date and time of your delivery, and at this time, please inform us if you are self-isolating / quarantining. To ensure the health of the person who delivers your furniture, they will telephone you when they arrive with your delivery and will place it outside your front door of your building. You will not be required to sign anything. The person who delivers it will not ring the doorbell or open the door after they have telephoned you. Please note that we won't bring your order inside the building. If you are quarantined inside an apartment and cannot come to the front door, you must arrange for a friend or neighbour to bring it from the front door to you.
