Buying Second-hand Furniture in Switzerland 101: Online

ecochair basel

SFr. 15.00

You can furnish your home with beautiful furniture, and save a ton of money, by buying secondhand.

We'll teach you how!

We had planned to run this as an in-person course, but you know... So we are going to try it online, in a two-hour session (with a short 10 min break in the middle)

We'll introduce you to how it works in Switzerland, including:
- Buying online
- Buying in thrift stores and antique shops (especially in Basel)
- What to look for, in terms of quality and condition
- Tips on staying safe during the pandemic when buying from private sellers
- Basics of negotiation
- Cleaning, basic repairs and care

As part of the last section on cleaning and care, we'll show you how to make a wood balm that will refresh tired wood furniture. We'll tell you what ingredients to have ready in advance.

This course is in English, and if you don't speak German, we'll also give you some key phrases in German and Swiss-German that you can use.

Once you've purchased the ticket, you'll get a confirmation, and we'll send you your own personal video link a few days before the event.

Places are limited to 10 people per session, to make sure that we can answer questions. We are running two sessions to see how it works, if there is a good response then we will add more dates.
